20th Century Fox Releases Trailer for Third Planet of the Apes Film

By Samantha Ofole-Prince

In the first film, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes," David Oyelowo played Steven Jacobs, the head of Polytechnic Solutions who wanted to slaughter a baby chimp called Caesar who was used as a test subject after the experiment went wrong. A medical researcher, (played by James Franco) adopts 2 week old Ceasar and raises him.

Fast forward ten years later in “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," a viral apocalypse has wiped out much of the world’s human population. Apes, on the other hand, led by Caesar (Andy Serkis) have done quite well forming a thriving colony in Muir Woods on the outskirts of San Francisco. When they encounter a group of humans trying to restore power back to the city, Koba (Toby Kebbell), introduced in the first film, who has now evolved into a grizzled warrior harbors a strong hatred for the human race and declares war.

In this third chapter of the blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind.  As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

"War of The Planet of the Apes" stars Andy Serkis and Woody Harrelson and releases in theaters July 14, 2017
