It's pretty rare for a sequel to be released 35 years later, but “Blade Runner,” the 1982 sci-fi film directed by Ridley Scott is getting a sequel.

Harrison Ford, who starred in the original film returns and will be joined by "La La Land" actor Ryan Gosling.  Set in 2019, “Blade Runner” followed an ex-detective (Harrison Ford) who was called out of retirement to track down and eliminate a team of humanoid androids that have escaped from an outer space mining colony and landed on earth.

The sequel  “Blade Runner 2049,”  takes place thirty years after the events of the first film with a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearthing a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos.  His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing.

Gosling and Ford, who will be reprising his iconic role as Indiana Jones in yet another sequel, will be joined by a new cast that includes Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve ("Arrival") and based on characters from the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, the film releases in theaters October 6, 2017.

The film is sure to attract a new generation of fans. Check out the trailer below:
